The LLSDC Executive Board meeting was held Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at noon at Thompson Hine. The meeting was called to order by our President, Mary Kate Hunter. The Treasurer and Membership reports were not available at the time of the meeting but will be approved by email later in the month. Liaison reports were presented and many wonderful activities were reported on from various LLSDC groups and committees. For example, there was a Library of Congress tour of the Magna Carter, a presentation on searching beyond Google, a meeting regarding changes in Pacer and a tour of the Naval Observatory Library.  The holiday season certainly did not slow us down!  Please remember to check out the LLSDC Event Calendar to learn more about upcoming programs and events. Mary Kate Hunter reported on a vote that was held by conference call regarding the new Membership Secretary position. The Board voted to make one Board position a full time Membership Secretary and to remove an At Large Board member. That way LLSDC will be electing one new at large position every year to serve a two year term. Pam Lipscomb noted that the “Global Giving” campaign is being started up again and will be organized by Scott Bailey. Alicia Pappas noted that there will be a program on Lobby Day and it will be held in advance of AALL’s Lobby Day in the spring and it will be sponsored by the Access to Justice Committee. Please be sure to look out for more information on this event. Mary Kate also noted that the Director of AALL Meetings reached out to LLSDC because AALL is in negotiations to hold the 2019 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The Director was writing to find out if it could rely on our Chapter for support for local arrangements and the Board was, of course, in agreement to lend support to the meeting. Finally, Alicia Pappas noted there will be a social event planned during the spring and is likely to occur during National Library Week; more information will be forthcoming. There was no other new business discussed. The meeting was then adjourned. The next Board Meeting will be held in February. We are off to a great start in 2015!
