This revision eliminates the secretary and treasurer positions, and better defines the duties and terms of office for the president and vice-president. These positions may be restored at any time via the same amendment process used to eliminate them.

To amend the bylaws, the majority of the SIS must approve the revision and 15 members must sign a petition that will be submitted to the Board for approval. This is your vote to approve or disapprove.

Current Bylaws –
ARTICLE V.  Officers and Committees.
Section 1.  Officers.  The officers shall consist of a president, vice-president/president-elect, secretary and treasurer.  The term of office for each officer shall be one year.

Section 2.  Duties of the Officers.  The president, vice-president/president-elect, and secretary, and treasurer shall perform the duties usually pertaining to their respective offices.  Among such duties shall be the assessment of dues as approved by the Executive Board of the Law Librarians' Society of Washington, D.C., Inc.

 Revised Bylaws –
Article V.  Officers and Committees.
Section 1.  Officers.  The officers shall consist of a President and Vice-president/President-elect. The term of office for each officer shall be one year with the exception that the Vice-president/President-elect shall serve one year as Vice-president and the following year as President.

Section 2.  Duties of the Officers.  The President and Vice-President/President-elect shall perform such duties usually pertaining to their respective offices. Among such duties shall be:
a) Conducting regular meetings of the section;
b) Participation in the publications of the section and provision of other membership services that are beneficial to the section;
c) Arranging seminars and other educational events of interest to the section;
d) Preparing and submitting reports to the Board of LLSDC of budgets, accounts of expenditures, and receivables.
