Government Relations Committee

Purpose

The Government Relations Committee is established to monitor pending national, state, and local legislation as well as executive and administrative action that affects LLSDC, its member law libraries, the practice of law librarianship, and information dissemination (in accordance with AALL’s Government Relations Policy). The Committee shall keep members informed of all important legislative developments, particularly those on which LLSDC members may wish to take a position. When appropriate, the Committee may, on its own initiative, communicate LLSDC views on information policy issues to appropriate governmental bodies and other interest groups and shall keep the Executive Board informed of all such efforts.  When more significant action is required, the Committee may draft and recommend statements to appropriate governmental bodies and present recommended communications to the Executive Board for their review and approval.  Finally, the Chair of the Committee shall additionally be responsible for communicating on a regular basis with the LLSDC liaison from the AALL Government Relations Committee Representative.
