With strong support from the Law Library of Congress, the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) is leading an ambitious project to develop a groundbreaking national inventory of primary legal materials at every level of government. More than 320 law librarians have been collaborating through their AALL State Working Group to populate an inventory of state, county and municipality legal resources.
We are ready to launch the next phase of the project and need your help to create the first-ever federal inventory of primary legal materials from all three branches of government.
We’re very pleased to invite you to a brown bag lunch at noon on Friday, December 17, in the Multimedia Room, LM-240 of the Madison Building at the Law Library of Congress, to learn more about this exciting initiative and how your unique contributions will make this project a success.
Law Librarian Roberta Shaffer will explain how the development of the national inventory supports the Law Library’s vision for Law.gov. AALL Director of Government Relations Mary Alice Baish will explain how the project contributes to the Association’s commitment to permanent public access to authentic legal information. AALL Advocacy Communications Assistant Emily Feldman will then introduce you to the template she has created for the federal inventory and explain how easy it is to add titles using Google Docs.
By volunteering to help populate the federal inventory, you’ll have the special opportunity to demonstrate your unique expertise about information produced by the federal government. Please join us on Friday, December 17, to learn how you can collaborate with your federal library colleagues in contributing immeasurable value to this groundbreaking initiative.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Emily Feldman - efeldman@aall.org. There will also be an option to call-in if you can't attend in person. Please RSVP and indicate that you will be calling in, so that we can get a head count and sent out instructions. Lastly, if you are interested, but unable to attend either on the phone or in person, please let us know that as well, so we can determine whether to hold another session after the holidays.
