Details for "Fall Associate/First Year Training Strategies"

Now that the latest crop of new attorneys has begun to get settled in your organizations, we'd like to talk about your strategies for teaching them about legal research.
  • Do you need ideas for getting institutional support for more training time?
  • Are you wondering what other libraries are doing for training (basics, practice area sessions, how much time are they spending, etc.)?
  • Does your organization have an annual re-certification program related to legal research?
  • Is there a training program in your organization for lateral hires?
  • Do you have some great training ideas/materials to share?
Please join the Legal Research Training Focus Group for a brown bag lunch to discuss these and other aspects of training strategies for new lawyers. Bring your lunch and a drink, and we will provide dessert. If you have training materials (handouts, favorite Web sites, training plans, training outlines, etc.) to share, please email them in advance to Cindy Carlson.

Who Should Attend?  Focus Group meetings are intended to be an open forum for all members of LLSDC, whether working in firm, court, public, or academic libraries. We would like to encourage members from all library types to attend to allow for the greatest possible exchange of ideas and better understanding in each group about what is involved in teaching legal research in each environment.

Getting There  Please note that the Thomson Reuters Information Center is a long walk from the nearest Metro stations (Metro Center or MacPherson Square) and is located at the intersection of 13th & L. You may need to allow extra time for the walk or consider taking a cab.
