Event Notes:

This will be an open discussion of the use of mobile devices in law firm libraries, and the role the library plays in the use of these devices.  Please bring any information about mobile devices in your firm that you think might be relevant. I hope we can learn from each other and come away with some new ideas that can help us work with these fast changing devices.

Possible discussion topics include:
  • Where the apps are headed.
  • What is your library doing with these devices, and have you partnered up with your IT department?
  • Does the firm supply the devices or do the lawyers buy them on their own?
  • List of devices your firm supports and does not support.
  • Does your IT department answer questions about the devices?
  • What policies does your firm have with regard to the use of mobile devices?
  • Free apps vs. paid apps, and do you have a budget for them?
  • Does your firm have a list of approved or not-approved apps?
  • How does your firm feel about storing information out on the Web?
  • Is your library creating trial iPads with rules of court or an ebook?
  • Do the librarians search for appropriate or best apps for the attorneys?
  • Does your firm have separate servers for its mobile devices or do you run off the regular Citrix or network servers.
