The Sandy Peterson Memorial Lecture with Guest Speaker: Interlibrary Loan Copyright & Licensing Issues

Law librarians regularly face issues related to both copyright law and licensing contracts, particularly in the context of interlibrary loan. This program is designed to improve our knowledge of these areas of law, and to help us serve our patrons with increased confidence and efficiency.

 

The Interlibrary Loan Special Interest Section and the Education Committee are jointly presenting the 2011 Sandy Peterson Memorial Lecture with guest speaker Arnold Lutzker of Lutzker & Lutzker LLP. Mr. Lutzker is an attorney with 30 years of experience representing and advising the creators and users of intellectual property. His many clients have included national library associations such as AALL, ALA, and ARL, as well as software companies, musicians, and filmmakers. He has written several books and articles on copyright law, and is general counsel and a board member of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington.

 

Mr. Lutzker will present an overview of the principles involved in copyright and licensing law, and discuss how these two areas intersect. He will also address some specific questions that arise in the context of interlibrary loan, and provide an expert legal analysis of these problems. The program will last for approximately two hours, and there will be time for questions.

 

Lunch will be served. There will also be a registration fee of $10, and attendance is limited to the first 50 registrants.
