Law Library Lights

I would like to introduce myself as the editor of Law Library Lights for the 2008-09 year. Last year, I served as the assistant editor for the excellent Shannon O’Connell, and I, along with this year’s assistant editor Sara Sampson, look forward to advancing our society’s award-winning publication.

And the reason that Lights is so well regarded in the D.C. area and well beyond is because of the contributions of LLSDC members like you, so please consider writing for one of the issues that we will be publishing this year.

The themes for the 2008-09 issues of Lights are as follows:

Fall 2008: What I Did Last Summer
Recaps of the 2008 AALL Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon and other recent library-related conferences; details on spring/summer library projects and other personal/professional endeavors undertaken over the past few months.  We are looking to gather articles by the middle part of next week (the week of September 15-19) for this issue, so please contact me if you want to contribute.

Winter 2009: The Global Library
How law libraries of all types are addressing issues with foreign/international materials; how librarians are working with attorneys and other librarians from around the world; and how librarians are serving patrons who come from various countries.

Spring 2009: What Makes D.C. Special
Perspectives on what makes being a law librarian in the D.C. area unique.

Summer 2009: The Spirit of Innovation
Stories about "outside the box" initiatives that law librarians have tried over the past year to advance themselves and their work environments, as well as things that law librarians would like to try in the future.

If you would like to write an article for Lights, please contact me.  And, please send me your article ideas – this is a great opportunity to be published and Lights needs you!!!
