The Law Librarians Society of Washington. D.C. will be holding the 2010 Legal Research Institutes at the Georgetown Law Library on March 9th and 10th. The LLSDC Education Committee held a program on low-cost alternatives to Lexis and Westlaw on Thursday, December 10. Hosted at Morgan, Lewis, and Bockius, the program began with Roger Skalbeck and Todd Venie, both librarians at Georgetown, presenting information they have collected about four primary law databases: Fastcase, Casemaker, Loislaw, and VersusLaw. We are planning to start back up the fiction/leisure reading book club that we had going for several years. The first date is Wednesday, January 20. We will plan on every third Wednesday and the meetings will be from 6-7pm to catch you right after work. October is always a busy month in law libraries. Unfortunately, the PLL SIS didn’t make it any less so, offering two hard-to-resist events to members. On October 28th, several members of LLSDC had a special treat: a guided tour of the Folger Shakespeare Library.
