ILL-SIS Happenings

On behalf of the InterLibrary Loan - Special Interest Section, I would like to thank Susan Golden of Spiegel & McDiarmid for her service last year as the ILL-SIS president.

We had a great year highlighted by a very well attended presentation by Mike Songer regarding copyright compliance in April.  We also had a tasty presentation in February of the services HeinOnline offers which was very generously sponsored by HeinOnline.  There were lots of opportunities throughout the year to exult and commiserate with each other over the joys and pains of interlibrary loan.  And we finished up the year with elections and lots of ideas for this year.  As the current president I'd like to congratulate Sally Hand of Holland & Knight for being our new Vice-President/President Elect.

One of the ideas suggested for this year will hopefully result in the longed for ILL 101 program!!!  What form it will take and when it will be ready are just a few of the small details that have yet to be worked out but we have a sizeable goal for the year.  We are also looking forward to having a meeting where we will compile a list of non-legal ILL resources.  And in December, there will be the always anticipated Cookie Party!!!

We will be starting the year on September 17th with a presentation by Mary Elizabeth Woodruff showing us how the LLSDC website and, in particular, the directory function can help InterLibrary Loan people and provide a much needed update to our old print directories.

Please feel free to join us!!  Anyone may come to our meetings.  You don't have to be an ILL-SIS member but you do have to have a strong desire to borrow books!  Generally, meetings are the third Wednesday of each month and we will always welcome the offer of your conference room for our meetings.
