Candidate Statement
On my first day in a law library, I checked in the first advanced sheet for volume one of West’s Federal Reporter, Third Series. There are now over 600 volumes in this series, and a lot has changed in law libraries since then. Gone are the days of dedicated research terminals, optimism about CD-ROMs, and debates about cancelling Shepard’s (remember when it was on Westlaw?). Now we’ve got WestlawNext, Bloomberg, vendor consolidation, smart phones, and the Law.Gov movement. Through all of this, LLSDC has thrived, adapted and evolved.
If I’m elected as LLSDC’s Vice-President / President-Elect, I will use my knowledge and experience in law libraries to help guide our active association. Washington has a wealth of law librarians, and LLSDC is well-known as an active organization involving hundreds of law firm, academic, government and corporate information professionals. I’d like to spend time helping LLSDC remain relevant and engaged, both inside and outside the beltway.
