I attended Baylor University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in English. Afterwards, I received my MLIS from Rutgers University. After moving to D.C. in 2003, I spent 6 ½ years in the law library of Pepper Hamilton, LLP as Assistant Librarian and then Librarian before accepting a position last fall as Law Librarian at the Government Accountability Office. For the past several years, I have been actively involved in LLSDC. Currently, I am the President of the Private Law Libraries (PLL) section, and previously was Vice-President and Treasurer. I also served as co-chair of the Joint Spring Workshop last year. As part of my tenure in PLL, I have enjoyed being able to plan events for the membership such as roundtable discussions, vendor demonstrations, educational programs, and library tours.

One of my greatest joys in being a law librarian is helping to educate others about how to find the resources that they need. In my work with a private law firm, and now for the GAO, I have emphasized outreach to my patrons by conducting training sessions, organizing events such as Library Week, and meeting one-on-one with patrons to help them learn to perform their research more efficiently. I believe strongly in the LLSDC’s mission of fostering a “spirit of ethical cooperation among members of the profession” and in helping law librarians continue their own educations. I have enjoyed the fellowship with other law librarians that comes with being part of LLSDC and hope to be able to assist in furthering that mission by helping to increase participation in LLSDC programs and expanding membership.
