Statement
I am extremely honored to have been nominated for the position of Vice-President/President Elect.
I never cease to be amazed by my fellow LLSDC members – not only by the depth and breadth of their knowledge, but also the unmatched spirit of collegiality found in our community. I would therefore welcome the opportunity to apply my experience as a law librarian, researcher and marketer to serve the Society through this important leadership role.
If elected, I would build upon the initiatives I led as the 2009 – 2010 LLSDC Public Relations Committee Chair. The PR Committee’s efforts resulted in the well-received launch of LLSDC’s presence on social networks, including Twitter and Facebook. In fact, more law librarian-related lists currently follow LLSDC on Twitter than any comparable Twitter site. My priorities would also include implementing processes to systematically identify and promote the unique talents that reside within the membership ranks in ways that will tangibly benefit LLSDC’s members - most of whom are faced with the harsh reality of greater workloads and static or declining staff and other resources.
Additionally, I would emphasize the education of academic, government and law firm administrators and others on the value which law librarians bring to their respective organizations. At the same time, I would also like to cultivate an ongoing dialogue between these legal professionals and LLSDC members, to help these organizations not only survive, but excel, in the current economic environment.
