Statement
I am excited to be a candidate for Treasurer of the Law Librarians’ Society of Washington, DC (LLSDC).  My membership in LLSDC has provided me with many opportunities, and as Treasurer of LLSDC, I look forward to working with the other members of the LLSDC Board to ensure that all LLSDC members have future opportunities to grow professionally.

I became a member of LLSDC in 2003, and in 2005, I received an LLSDC scholarship in supporting my pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the Catholic University of America.  In 2006 I received an AALL/LLSDC scholarship to attend the 2006 AALL Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri.  In March of 2008 in coordination with the LLSDC Academic SIS, I had the opportunity to present a session on current and next-generation OPACs titled “Whither the Catalog” where the future of searching was discussed.  Also in 2008, I was fortunate to have an article discussing the evolution of the Pence Law Library published in Law Library Lights.  Perhaps the greatest resource available through LLSDC (and the one I use most frequently) is that the wealth of experience of other members is only a phone call or email away.

I have previous experience as Treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Innovative Users’ Group from 2003-2006, and look forward to being able to apply this experience to LLSDC.    Most importantly, I look forward to returning something to an organization that has helped me to develop as a law librarian.  I welcome your support of my candidacy and look forward to working with you.
